     William Maxwell was born in February 1881 at Pennsylvania; Red Bank Twp., Armstrong Co. PA 1900 Census, Vol 30, ED 30, Sheet 21:7. He was the son of Archibald Maxwell.

     Thomas Maxwell was born in September 1883 at Pennsylvania; Red Bank Twp., Armstrong Co. PA 1900 Census, Vol 30, ED30, Sheet21:7. He was the son of Archibald Maxwell.

     Archibald Maxwell was born in January 1886 at Pennsylvania; Red Bank Twp., Armstrong Co. PA 1900 Census, Vol 30, ED30, Sheet21:7. He was the son of Archibald Maxwell.

     

Elisabeth Maxwell was Dressmaker. She was born on 7 September 1882 at Jackson Twp., Mercer County, Pennsylvania; Jackson Ctr., Mercer Co. PA 1900 Census, Vol. 134, ED.143, Sheet12:76. She was the daughter of George J. Maxwell and Ellen (?).

     

William J. Maxwell was Coalminer. He was born on 17 October 1883 at Sharon, Mercer County, Pennsylvania; Jackson Ctr., Mercer Co. PA 1900 Census, Vol. 134, ED.143, Sheet12:76. He was the son of George J. Maxwell and Ellen (?).

     George J. Maxwell was buried; Presbyterian Cemetery, Jackson Ctr., PA [1 mile E/I-79, 5m NE of Mercer]. ] He was born circa 1889 at Pennsylvania. He was the son of Archibald Maxwell.

     George J. Maxwell died on 5 September 1892 at Jackson Ctr., Mercer Co. PA.¹

     

Henry Bucher was Cordwainer at Germany Twp., York County, Pennsylvania. He In the PA Archives, Series 3, Vol 21., Germany Twp., a Henry Becher had 276 acres of land in 1782, 3 horses, 3 cows and taxed 16.5.1; Henry Becher, Jr. was single and taxed 3.10.1. In the 1800 census for Germany Twp., Adams Co. Henry's wife, Catherine, and his son Peter are listed with William. In Henry's will he seems to be referring to Peter as if he were ill or at least not able to care for himself. However, his will is not in York where it should be. I found it in Adams Co. in 1806, witnessed by R. M. McIlhenny, Adam Wintrod, Jr. and Henrich Bringman. [Arthur Weaner says that many times a husband's will was not executed until the wife died.] His Inventory is dated 5 Dec. 1797, #252, now at the Adams Co. Historical Society, File #5157. There are bonds on John Beeher, in the amount of 66"67 each, due in the following years: 1798, 99, 1800, 01, 02, 03, 04, and 1805. Also notes on Henry Beeher, Jr. [60"00]; Frederick Beeher & Int. [63"00]; and a debt due from Jacob Bringham [8"00]. I thought Henry had a first wife, Elisabeth, Now I wonder if there were two Henry Buchers, father and son. In Henry's estate inventory there is mention of a Henry Jr. In the PA Archives, Series 3, Vol 2, there is mention of a Henry, Sr. and Henry, Jr. in Germany Twp. I have found deeds over in Codorus Twp. that list a Henry Bucher and wife Elisabeth. Then there is a group of deeds for Henry and a wife, Catherine, and the land seems to be connected. Also in the deed in Book 2B:243, dated 1 Sept. 1783 Henry is referred to as a Cordwainer and in Henry's inventory, dated 5 Dec. 1797, shoemaker's tools are listed as part of his estate. Book E, page 147, York PA Court House, May 17, 1787, 250 acres of land sold to John Beeher of Hidleberg [sic] Twp., York, but 12 acres reserved for Henry and wife and 'the house where Christian Reek, Jr. [sic] now lives". There are those Taufscheins, see Samuel Bucher, #5, which probably disproves the theory of a first wife.

     Henry Bucher married Catherine (?) at Pennsylvania.

     Henry Bucher died circa 1797 at Petersburg, Germany Twp., York County, Pennsylvania; Between 1795-97. His estate was probated on 28 January 1807 at Gettysburg, Adams County, Pennsylvania; Will Book A:376, writ 23 Feb. 1795, Filed under Becher.

     

     Catherine (?) married Henry Bucher at Pennsylvania.

     Catherine (?) died circa 1806 at Germany Twp., Adams County, Pennsylvania; This is the date her husband's will was probated. Arthur Weaner says often the husband's will was not probated until the wife died and he died in 1799. That is when his estate sale is dated.

     Peter Bucher was born between 1775 and 1785; According to 1800 census.¹ He was the son of Henry Bucher and Catherine (?).

     

John Bucher /Beecher was Distiller at Straban Twp., York County, Pennsylvania. He In the original tax lists of Straban Twp. taken 4 Dec. 1798, John Becher, a distiller, was listed as owning a log and stone house and log and stone barn. It was valued at $873.50. He owned 186 acres of land and in 1821 he transferred 130 acres to George Saltzgiver. Over the next few years he acquired a few more acres and in 1827 then sold 20 acres to Jacob Bucher. In 1829 John again had the 70 and Jacob Jr. none. In 1832 Jesse Bucher suddenly had 86 acres of land and Jacob Jr. still has none. John Bucher was gone from the tax lists in 1832. I believe that is when he went to live with his son David in Franklin Twp., and transferred the land to his grandson, Jesse. Administration says he was 'late of Franklin Twp.' George Bucher never had any land. In 1829 he was gone from Straban Twp., Jacob Jr. was a toll gate keeper and then took over his father's land in 1832. Check on these last two statements. at Straban Twp., York County, Pennsylvania. He was born circa 1757 at Pennsylvania. He was the son of Henry Bucher and Catherine (?).

     John Bucher /Beecher married Elisabeth Keplinger circa 1774 at Arendtsville, York County, Pennsylvania.¹

     John Bucher /Beecher died on 2 June 1842 at Menallen Twp., Adams County, Pennsylvania.² His estate was probated on 11 June 1842 at Gettysburg, Adams County, Pennsylvania.³

     Elizabeth Bucher was buried at Christ's Church, Littlestown, Adams County, Pennsylvania. She Much of the material about Elisabeth and her husband, Jacob Winteroth, comes from Vol. 9 of the Wintrode Report at the York Co. Historical Society by Dr. Fayette H. Beard. It is unclear from my notes which of the three children, Anna Maria, Rachel, or George died 20 Aug 1795. My notes are all mixed up and I will have to check it again.

     Elizabeth Bucher married Jacob Winteroth, son of Jacob Winterode. Elizabeth Bucher was born circa 1766 at Germany Twp., York County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Henry Bucher and Catherine (?).

     Elizabeth Bucher died on 25 April 1844 at Germany Twp., Adams County, Pennsylvania.

     Sophia Bucher was the daughter of Henry Bucher and Catherine (?).

     Sophia Bucher died at Germany Twp., Adams County, Pennsylvania. She The author of the book "Heirs of Christian Reck" places Sophia Bucher in another Bucher family. [John Bucher and Catherine of MD, who later resided in Germany Twp., York Co., PA]. I wrote to him and he refused to even discuss this with me. He gives no documentation. However, I think she is the daughter of Henry Bucher. All the sponsors of her children are related to Henry with the exception of Samuel and Barbara Bucher, who I believe is her brother but I have no proof with the exception of the Taufschein, see Samuel #5. She has named children David, and William. David Beecher/Bucher named a daughter Sophia. I have a deed in which Henry Bucher tells of land being sold 'with the exception of the parcel on which Christian Reck, Jr. no lives'. See Henry Bucher [1797 - #5.v].

     Elisabeth Keplinger was born circa 1755 at Pennsylvania.

     Elisabeth Keplinger married John Bucher /Beecher, son of Henry Bucher and Catherine (?), circa 1774 at Arendtsville, York County, Pennsylvania.¹

     Elisabeth Keplinger died on 14 August 1845 at Arendtsville, Adams County, Pennsylvania; Star & Sentinel, Gettysburg PA newspaper.

     

Jacob Winteroth was Blacksmith.

     Jacob Winteroth married Elizabeth Bucher, daughter of Henry Bucher and Catherine (?). Jacob Winteroth was born circa 1765. He was the son of Jacob Winterode.

     Jacob Winteroth died on 28 January 1833. His estate was probated on 11 March 1833 at Adams County, Pennsylvania; Adams Co., Will #1741, written 11 Mar 1833.

     

     Christian Reck Jr. married Sophia Bucher, daughter of Henry Bucher and Catherine (?).

     Christian Reck Jr. died at Cumberland Twp., Adams Co. PA. His estate was probated on 23 May 1820 at Adams County, Pennsylvania; Will #268, Adams Co. PA, settled 23 May 1820, writ: 12 Mar 1807.

     

Jacob Bucher was Hatter. He Did he marry Mary Gilbert, pg. 14, Stover Republican Compiler? He was born on 30 October 1775 at Germany Twp., York County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of John Bucher /Beecher and Elisabeth Keplinger.

     Jacob Bucher married Elisabeth (?) circa 1802.

     Jacob Bucher died on 21 September 1850 at Straban Twp., York County, Pennsylvania, at age 74.

     Maria Elizabeth Bucher She may possibly have married Michael Saltzgiver. Or was it George Saltzgiver who her father transferred 130 acres of land to. She was born on 6 February 1780 at Germany Twp., York County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of John Bucher /Beecher and Elisabeth Keplinger.

     John Bucher /Beecher was buried at Cemetery, Codorus, York County, Pennsylvania. He was born on 7 July 1780 at Germany Twp., York County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of John Bucher /Beecher and Elisabeth Keplinger.

     John Bucher /Beecher died on 10 March 1869 at age 88.

     Peter Bucher /Beecher was born circa 1790 at Germany Twp., York County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of John Bucher /Beecher and Elisabeth Keplinger. Peter Bucher /Beecher From the Beecher file at the Adams Co. Historical Society came the following: Peter Beecher of Mt. Pleasant, Adams Co. 15 acres adj. to John Blair Smith and others on which are : 1 story log dwelling, 1 log shop, 1 log stable, young orchard, well of water near the door. Seized and taken as estate of Peter Beecher. From the Sentinel, a Gettysburg newspaper: Peter Beecher, Mt. Pleasant, Sheriff Sale, 6 Nov. 1837.
I'm not sure that this is the son of my John Beecher. There is another one in Franklin Twp.[born 1790] in the 1850 census who named one child William. The Peter with the sherif's sale has a son named David and married in 1848. on 6 November 1837.¹

David Beecher /Bucher was Manufacturer at Beechersville, Adams County, Pennsylvania. He Altho David Beecher named his daughter, Catherine, as his executor when he wrote his will 27 March 1880 - Henry Weigle is listed as Executor in the Will Book Index. All the births and deaths of the children came from "The History of York Co." by Mills, page 187 in the biographical sketch of D. H.G. Beecher, son of Samuel and Sarah A.M. [Wagner] Beecher. at Adams County, Pennsylvania. He was born on 8 September 1793 at Straban Twp., York County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of John Bucher /Beecher and Elisabeth Keplinger.

     David Beecher /Bucher married Anna Margaretha Gilbert, daughter of Jacob Gilbert and Anna Margaretha Fox, circa 1814 at Adams County, Pennsylvania.

     David Beecher /Bucher died on 13 April 1880 at Butler Twp., Adams County, Pennsylvania, at age 86; From Mortality Schedule, died of a fever in April of 1880. He was buried at Fairview Cemetery, Arendtsville, Adams County, Pennsylvania; Exhumed from Reformed Cemetery, old graveyard, where bank is now.

     George Bucher was born circa 1795 at Straban Twp., York County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of John Bucher /Beecher and Elisabeth Keplinger.

     George Bucher died between 1840 and 1850.

     Jacob Bucher /Beecher was born on 21 December 1789. He was the son of John Bucher /Beecher and Elisabeth Keplinger.

     Jacob Bucher /Beecher died on 21 September 1850 at age 60.

     Johannes Winteroth was born on 9 January 1789; Wintrode Report, Vol. 9.¹ He was the son of Jacob Winteroth and Elizabeth Bucher.

     Elisabetha Winteroth was born on 9 March 1789.¹ She was the daughter of Jacob Winteroth and Elizabeth Bucher.

     Rachel Winteroth was born on 20 August 1795 at Littlestown, Adams County, Pennsylvania.¹ She was the daughter of Jacob Winteroth and Elizabeth Bucher.

     Samuel Reck was born on 28 September 1798 at Germany Twp., York County, Pennsylvania.¹ He was the son of Christian Reck Jr. and Sophia Bucher.

     William Reck was born on 17 December 1800. He was the son of Christian Reck Jr. and Sophia Bucher.
